The third edition of the UAE Tour, the one and only World Tour race in the Middle East, will start on Sunday from Al Dhafra in Abu Dhabi.
Friday's penultimate stage is a 168-kilometre charge from Dubai to the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah.
Reigning Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar won season-opening UAE Tour as Australian Caleb Ewan claimed Saturday’s seventh stage sprinting honours in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
The list features some of the greatest riders in the sport of cycling, with strong battles expected for the leader’s Red Jersey, sprinter’s Green Jersey and individual stage victories when the tour will get under way from Feb.21.
"The decision has been taken to ensure protection of all the Race's participants," said the Higher Organising Committee, adding that "safety comes at the top of all priorities."
Still only 23, the Slovenian will be the star attraction as he leads out the world's top 18 teams for the seven-day race on Sunday.
Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogacar has won Stage 7, the Mubadala Stage, 148km from Al Ain to Jebel Hafeet, ahead of Yates and Bilbao.
The team goes into the race with a well-balanced squad enabling them to be competitive during each stage, as well as the GC. Fernando Gaviria will be the team’s fastman in the sprints while Fabio Aru and David De la Cruz will look to test their legs in the mountains.
The start and finish locations of the first World Tour race of the season have also been confirmed, as ratified by the sports world governing body, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
The UAE Tour race organisers, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Dubai Sports Council and RCS Sport announced the first round of riders set to compete in the third edition of the race.
